A charm for celebrating native Hawaiian plants and their place in our every day spaces.
Pōhinahina is an indigenous sprawling shrub with beautiful silvery leaves and periwinkle-colored blossoms. Its leaves smell like a mixture of cracked black pepper, basil and sage.
It has medicinal qualities which include relieving dull pains, nausea, asthma, headache and inflammation in the back and eyes.
It grows naturally along the coast in Hawai'i but you can also commonly spot it in urban landscaping. Once you begin to notice it here and there, it is sure to bring a smile to your face!
