‘Ilima blossom // Sida fallax

A charm for appreciating the beauty in the small things and for remembering to prioritize health.

These cheerful yellow blossoms are indigenous to Hawai’i and are the official island flower of O’ahu. Different varieties can be found along the coast or in the mountains.

Historically, these paper-thin blossoms were strung together into lei worn by Hawaiian Royalty. Many hundreds of blossom are needed for a single lei but as they’re ephemeral, they quickly wilt by the following day. Today, they are still incorporated into lei as a pop of color.

‘Ilima blossoms are edible! Traditionally, they were used medicinally to treat digestive troubles, asthma and other ailments.
